Declan has grown up with his kokum’s stories and art depicting the buffalo. The buffalo have always been an important part of his life, but he wasn’t prepared to be face to face with a herd. When a stampeded of magical buffalo come down from the sky, things begin to get wild for Declan. Deridre Havrelock and Azby Whitecalf have created a fantastic Own Voices picture book for young children, with bright, vivid illustrations and plenty of informational matter at the end. We need more Indigenous representation in children’s books.
