A family of birds discovers a rogue egg in the Australian bush and takes it home to hatch it. When the egg hatches, it isn’t a bird at all but is a crocodile. The family continues to love and raise him. As he gets bigger, other animals try to figure out why the bird family continues to keep him. However, despite all of the reasons the other animals come up with, the real reason is quite simple. Crocodile belongs. He is part of their family.
Kitty Black’s A Crocodile in the Family is a sweet story about belonging and what it means to be a family. This is a great was for parents (and other loving adults) or teachers to discuss how all children are special or to discuss adoption. This is one of those books which makes everyone feel good.
